Research Lake Victoria

Building on the momentum of the past two years, we now seek to extend our efforts to the benefit the wider Lake Victoria community. The lake has suffered chronic challenges for many decades now, and it will take many more to recover its true potential. Various research expeditions are being planned on the lake to assess its health and guide interventions.  TMG will be partnering with a range of organisations here and abroad to help not only deliver on these scientific needs, but help tell their stories also.

We are building an alliance of researchers, NGOs, funders and local communities to sail around the lake, conduct vital research, and document our progress.  We will then take the true story of Lake Victoria's vibrant future to audiences across Africa, Europe and the US.

Local communities are at the heart of this project and will be represented by partners from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, so that over the coming 30 years the lake remains central to the health and wellbeing to all it serves.
